AIDA LIZ CASALLAS is a Colombian Photographer based in Bogotá.

 

She has had a personal evolution over the last 10 years when her passion began. She has travelled and been inspired by the works of other photographers (professionals and amateurs); light, shadows, body movement, blur and selective spotlights the issues that she has felt attracted.

Since she started to have her own style she has realized that her inspiration works together with her two others passions (Music and Poetry). Sometimes she takes  the whole poem she likes in the moment or she listens some song that reminds her of some  stages of her life. Also tells her stories of others she knows. The concept or part of the body work comes from a curiosity as well as a taste for nostalgia.
 

She has discovered how to do sensual-self portraits. This has given her the chance to explore not only her sensuality, sexiness, self confidence, love and appreciation for her body, but also to extend this kind of Art to other women who wanted to find that balance between fears, loneliness,  absence of love, confidence, and security. It has been a way of challenging the typical mindset imposed on South American women. Capturing and creating a new woman of sorts.

 

“Our Universe” is the project she has been working with self portraits and portraits of other women (over 40´s) and some of them are friends of her, who have a story to tell, who want to “exorcize” (as she calls) those fears and unresolved  issues about their bodies and their inner and outer beauty. 
 

On her words: “It is great to feel this project works as a therapy for them and when the session  has been finished they let me know how great they feel, comfy, secure and happy with their bodies and simply being able to  express themselves”.

 

The sky is not the limit because the world of photography is now expecting her next move!!

Ella ha tenido una evolución personal en los últimos 10 años cuando comenzó su pasión

Ha viajado y se ha inspirado en los trabajos de otros fotógrafos, de diferentes Artistas Visuales, de sus constantes viajes y miradas  a través de su lente; la luz, las sombras, el movimiento del cuerpo, el desenfoque y el enfoque selectivo resaltan los conceptos y temas por los que ella se ha sentido atraída.

Desde que comenzó a tener su propio estilo, se ha dado cuenta que su inspiración funciona junto con sus otras dos pasiones (Música y poesía). A veces toma todo el poema que le gusta en el momento o escucha una canción que le recuerda algunas etapas de su vida y de allí surge la inspiración para dar paso a su creatividad; o muchas veces sucede la inspiración en el momento y luego busca algún texto que complemente el ejercicio.  Igualmente trata de expresar la historia de otras personas que ella conoce. El concepto o parte del trabajo corporal proviene tanto de la curiosidad como del gusto por la nostalgia.

Al descubrir la expresión fotográfica a través de los auto retratos,  le ha dado la oportunidad de explorar no solo su sensualidad,  la confianza en sí misma, amor y aprecio por su cuerpo, sino también extender este tipo de Arte a otras mujeres que querían encontrar el equilibrio entre los miedos, la soledad y la ausencia de amor por la confianza y la  seguridad en sí mismas. Ha sido una forma de desafiar la mentalidad típica impuesta a las mujeres sudamericanas. Capturando y creando una nueva clase de  mujer, que se reconoce y acepta como es. Este proyecto lo ha denominado  “Nuestro Universo", un Universo único y amado con diferentes historias por contar.

 En sus palabras: "Es genial sentir que este proyecto funciona como una terapia para ellas y cuando la sesión fotográfica  ha terminado me han dicho lo bien que se sienten, cómodas, seguras y felices con sus cuerpos y poder expresarlo".

 

¡El cielo no es el límite porque el mundo de la fotografía ahora espera su próximo movimiento!
